Starting in 2024, Gmail and Yahoo will implement new requirements for bulk email senders with the goals of improving email security, reducing spam and improving the user experience. These changes affect all senders, especially those who send more than 5,000 emails per day.
New requirements
Email authentication.it will be mandatory to comply with DKIM, SPF and DMARC authentication methods. This will patch the loopholes exploited by attackers who threaten email users.
Easy unsubscribe. Bulk email senders must give recipients the ability to unsubscribe from commercial email with a single click and must process received unsubscribe requests within two days.
Sending wanted emails. Senders must keep their spam rate below a clear threshold to ensure that Gmail and Yahoo recipients are not flooded with unwanted messages.
These changes are an important step in ensuring that emails are secure and spam-free. It is crucial that bulk email senders are prepared for these changes to avoid deliverability issues.
In ePigeon, we have always recommended compliance with these (now mandatory) practices, but it is still recommended to review your domain’s DMARC policy to make sure it is strict enough for the new standards.
